Disney Animation vs. Pixar

Disney Animation vs. Pixar by: Seth Meyer I chose the competition of Disney Animation vs. Pixar not only because of the high level tension that is within the Disney buildings but also for the discussion of the best films from our childhoods. Disney Animation vs. Pixar is not usually a debate that is brought up but it is very interesting to see why, ultimately, in my opinion, Disney Animation has cranked out the better films over the years. Disney Animation  has been serving us beautiful films since the 1930s when Snow White came out. This was the first full-length animated film and created animation as we know it today. Over the years, Disney Animation has warmed our hearts with classics such as, Cinderella , Peter Pan , The Lion King , The Little Mermaid , Beauty and the Beast , etc. Quite the impressive resume if you're asking me, but don’t count Pixar out of the picture quite yet. Pixar came out with the first full-length computer animated film in 1995 when the highl

E-Learning vs. Traditional Schooling

E-Learning vs. Traditional Schooling Persuasive Essay by: Seth Meyer The debate between E-learning and traditional schooling has never become more relevant. Now more than ever, during this time of coronavirus, we should have a meaningful conversation about which is better: e-learning or traditional schooling. This relevant question of whether e-learning is helping has become highly controversial. Just looking up information on Google alone, there are many articles that come up with opposite opinions. One article would say, “E-learning: why it’s bad,” and another would say, “E-learning:  Why it’s good.” In this essay, I will tell you the useless and somewhat detrimental effects that E-Learning has on our education.  Traditional schooling should be a priority over e-learning, simply put, because of the learning divide. Now don’t get me wrong, I am loving this time off as much as the next lazy high schooler, but have you wondered how it is affecting our education? You take inform

Book Review

nThe Magician’s Nephew Book Review by: Seth Meyer This fantasy fiction book by C.S. Lewis is my favorite book of fiction because of the early childhood nostalgia it brings me. C.S. Lewis introduces us to the world of Narnia through a fast-moving plot that will never fall short of new elements of fantasy and new characters throughout. I think what sets this book apart from the other books in the series for me is the originality of it all. The fact that C.S. Lewis had the courage to introduce us to this crazy world called Narnia makes it a certain type of special. Now let’s get into the plot. The book opens with Polly Plummer comforting a grubby boy named Digory Dirke. Polly and Digory become friends and stumble upon Digory’s uncle magician who has made special rings. There are two green rings and one yellow ring. They put the yellow ring on and find themselves in a wood with pools. They jump into a pool and travel to Narnia. They meet Jadis, an evil queen. Digory and Polly brin
Greener Pastures By: Seth Meyer It’s the 1950s. I am 17, and my younger brother, Roger, and I are doing a bit of fishing by the creek. It is getting late now and we should be getting back to our single, controlling, father at home.  “Think it’s time to get back to that ol’ coot?” I asked. “Yeah, I guess it’s ‘bout that time, let’s see what poor excuse he’ll give us for ‘supper’ this time,” he replied. So, we headed back, barefoot on the painful gravel road half a mile until we returned home at 7:00 at night. We had 1 pancake and 1 egg each for us both. It’s the next day and I am at my one room schoolhouse. At school, I feel like I’m surrounded by people with the smallest aspirations in life. The students my age never have dreams of wanting something bigger than this small town. Once I get outta here and into the real world, I am going to become a big country singer in Nashville. I want to be the next Johnny Cash. I want to perform for crowds so loud that I can barely keep

Car Ride

Car Ride Whenever I hear the  The sound of the rumbling car’s engine, I am 4 years old And have woken up from a long, deep, nap coming home from shopping in Willmar. My mom comes into the garage and gently removes me from the car seat, not to disturb my peace. But that is not my story. My story is my elbow popping out as soon as she touches my arm. My screams and wails are heard from inside the house where my Dad is. My cries of anguish serve as an unofficial welcome to my dad running outside and popping my arm back into place.

Ok Boomer

Ok Boomer I don’t know what to do with these little whippersnappers All they seem to do is stay on their little gadgets like robots The only thing they do when they come over is tap on their whatsits, popping up titles such as Instachat and Snapagram The little gizmos vibrate with a mmmm mmmm, they pick it up, stare at it and set it down again My grandchildren show me photographs on these thingamabobs with words on the pictures like: “World War 3” and “Baby Yoda”  Back in my day, we had to take out actual roles of film to watch a movie, not whatever they call Netflix Plus I guess a boomer like me will never understand the younger generations
